North board, roleplay 16
As the clock ticks and the time shifts, things change. Change is an inevitable part of life that we all must live with, day in and day out. Change can happen when you least expect it or the change can be preplanned years beforehand. Change is unpredictable...
Time: More than 4 months ago.
Place: Grossglockner, Austria
Cold, crisp morning air. The type that lashes against your cheeks and chokes out your larynx. The winter is still in full gear and the snow still falls from the sky. Such is the life at the high elevation.
The view follows a man. Identity unknown. Face, a mystery; large, boisterous shoulders sway back and forward as the man moves in forward progression, a thick neck tenses in the morning chill. A long black cloak hovers mere inches above the ground, slightly scuffing the deepening snow. It's leather texture melting away any snow in a heartbeat. Black hair extends itself into the black leather of his cloak.
The setting is the same every way he looks... whiteness. A thick snowstorm has overcome the area and visibility is very limited. But the man moves on, unknown to him what the close distance consists of. Questions abound, answers few...
90 minutes passes
The thick snow cover begins to cease and the area surrounding the continuous moving man is revealing itself. The man appears to be descending down a large-scale mountain in western Austria, clouds roam on the ground down below. But before the cloud, several buildings appear not too far down the passageway. The goliath sees the same things and head toward this new destination. The flurry of white precipitation has now ceased and a spiraling wave of heat appears over the horizon as the sun hits the sky.
The man slowly approaches the entrance to the first building in his path, a pub. As he stands outside directly before the arch of the door, you can gauge his height to be somewhere around 6 feet and a half. The door isn't built for a human his size, so he must duck to enter the establishment. Inside is empty; a musky smell lingers in the air. The behemoth doesn't seem to be bothered by any of this, or perhaps doesn't even notice, and makes a beeline to the bartender.
"Barkeep, ein Lager."
"Barkeep, a Lager."
The bartender looks at the man cautiously, but fills out his request regardless. His grabs a murky pint from the shelf and fills it to the brim. He sits it in front of the man and he in turn takes a large gulp of the liquid.
The bartender continues to stare at the man until he looks back. The bartender then proceeds to uneasy grounds. "Keine Handlung, aber Sie sehen wie Scheiße aus."
"No offense, but you look like sh*t."
The man takes a handful of his jet-black hair and throws it away from his face, revealing the questioned visage.
Karep.
"In der Tat. Die Reisen, die wir nehmen, können langwierig oder erleuchtend einmal sein. Diese scheint, eine Mischung von beiden zu sein."
"Indeed. The journeys we take can sometime be tedious or enlightening. This seems to be a mixture of both."
The bartender only has a confused look to offer in return. "Wie so, mein Freund?"
"How so, my friend?"
Karep has a slight chuckle with himself. "Lassen Sie uns mich gerade sagen sind gesetzt worden in eine unenviable Position und mehr als Zwanzig fünf Jahre meines Lebens ist vergeudet worden und jetzt ist für immer verloren. Das Leben kann sehr unvorhersehbar sein. Was ist wirklich die Wirklichkeit... tut jemand wissen wirklich? "
"Let's just say I've been put in an unenviable position and more than twenty five years of my life has been wasted and now is lost forever. Life can be very unpredictable. What really is the reality... does anyone really know?"
"Erklären Sie. Wir haben allen Tag, nicht viele Leute kommen bis zu diesen Teilen."
"Explain. We have all day, not many people come up to these parts."
"Tsk-tsk," Karep replies, annoyed. "Einfach erhalten Sie mich anderen und halten Sie zu selbst."
"Just get me another and keep to yourself."
The bartender listens to Karep's request, so to not anger the man. He takes his glass, refills it, and carefully places it back in front of him.
The bartender's suggestion has Karep's mind racing. Now that he knows the truth of his past, where will it all lead him?
Karep spent the first 25 years of his life under the control and manipulation of the man known as "The Mastermind" Jerry Jacobs. Karep was lead to believe that this Jacobs was his father and only living relative. He told him a false story of how he was found in the middle of an open field in the middle of no where, as if left there on purpose from someone that wanted to get rid of him. The lies never stopped with Jacobs and Karep was led to believe many things that weren't true about society and the world today, knowledge that was fed directly to him by "The Mastermind".
Karep was home schooled as a child, as Jerry felt the taunting that he may receive at school might scar him for life. And so, Karep was raised just as Jerry raised himself, without a school or social life. And when he reached the appropriate age, Jacobs taught him everything he knew about wrestling and life. However, it was all just a mirage. Jacobs' cover-up of the truth led to much confusion as he proceeded in life. He was led to believe that being a demonic social outcast was actually a good thing. Jacobs even persuaded him that he was the "God of the Underworld". This new title lingered in his mind and after his followings in Luciferianism, he began believing this as truth. With his mind already in shambles, he began seeing things that didn't really exist, including the spirit of Lucifer. These images soon passed but the visuals stuck and forced him to feel that he was what Jerry had told him.
Eventually, however, Karep seen through Jacob's protected plan and seen him for what and who he really was. This gave Jacobs something he truly was deserving of, living six feet under.
And now, Karep has been left to patch together his early life, a time from which he remembers nothing and others he contacts remember even less of. All he knows now is that his birthplace was Innsbruck, Austria. He has come to Austria to seek the truth of a past he feels he must remember and a place he must learn to love. A deep hate exists strongly in his body today and he is now wary to trust anyone or anything as he searches for the clues of his past history.
Darkness has begin to set upon the tavern. The once bright sun has diminished just over the horizon and dusk has set in on the desolate landscape. The short day has ended.
Karep gets up from his the barstool that he has spent the last several hours sitting on and heads in the directions of the door.
"Sie können nicht zu dieser Zeit der Nacht dort erlöschen. Der Frost ißt Sie lebendig. Die Schwärzung nicht erwähnen... Sie nicht sogarSIND in der Lage, durch sie zu sehen."
"You can't go out there at this time of night. The frost will eat you alive. Not to mention the darkness... You won't even be able to see through it."
"Kälte bewirkt nur die, die an sie denken. Schwärzung ist nur eine Folie für das schwache."
"Cold only effects those who think about it. Darkness is only a foil for the weak."
And so, with his final words, Karep steps back into the unknown. Each step, a different mystery. Each movement, a new thrill. The furious night wind blows the door open, the only thing stopping it from coming off it's hinges is Karep's mighty paw as he grabs it's as it blows back towards him. He closes it behind him, showing no strain as the wind continues to pilfer his body. He buttons up his cloak and marches forward.
The bartender was right, the visibility is severely limited. A meter at most Karep can see in front of him, yet he continues trudging along on what seems a pre-determined path.
Suddenly, a bright light shines from somewhere in a very close distance, blinding Karep instantly. The blinding is only a short-lived experience, however, because a shovel soon smacks him across the back of the head and he falls to the ground in a heap.
Change isn't always for the best...
