Roleplay God was an open tournament: handlers entered a character from whatever fed they were in, and the tournament paired them off in four regional brackets, North, South, East and West. Each match was decided by judges reading the two (in RPG4's first round, three) sides' roleplays. It ran about once a year, and each edition had a new site, and sometimes a new owner. This page gives what is known about each, and where it comes from. Where the sources disagree, both are given.

RPG1

Nothing from RPG1's own site has been located, and its address is not known. What is known comes from RPG2's site and later forum posts:

RPG2's credit page says the idea, and "version 1.0 of roleplay god", came from Joshua P.; David P., who ran RPG2, calls himself "the man that made it happen". David P. also owned AWA, a fed of the time (Primetime Central forum posts, 2003).
It was a 64-man tournament. BigErn, entering RPG2, says he "made it all the way to the final 8" of it, losing to Damien Dark, and that the final was Johnny Mayhem against Chris Bagwell.
RPG2's judges page lists Johnny Mayhem as "The original Roleplay God". A 2006 forum post remembers the first tournament as "won by someone beating Chris Bagwell with stolen RP's".
A 2003 post by one of its entrants says "the first RPG was shrouded in controversy back then".

RPG2 (2001)

RPG2 ran at rp-god.com/02 from early June 2001, with David P. as owner and a site designed by Kenny ("eXstaZe"). It had grown to 128 entrants, four brackets of 32 (BigErn's first-round roleplay; the site's news of 30 June has "32 wrestlers, now 16" after the third round). Handlers had three roleplays per match, one a day, with a noon deadline on the day of each card. On 5 July 2001, midway through, David P. announced he was retiring from the tournament, citing "the whining, hack threats and AIM situations", and handed it to K., whose contact address was at the uWa. His $250 prize went with him; RwC's owner put up $50 in its place. K. finished the bracket rounds, set up a finals section (North against West, East against South) and opened the final on 23 July. On 28 July the site was waiting on one judge's pick. By 23 September 2001 the front page carried the result: "Roleplay God: Michael Trey".

RPG3 (2002)

By June 2002 rp-god.com's front page pointed to a new address, roleplaygod.com, where applications for RPG3 were open. Its partner page describes it as "a culmination of two minds and the recruitment of one well-respected eWrestling celebrity", judged "on writing ability, entertainment value, and ability to include a storyline involving the tournament"; the prize was "one full year of bragging rights". The site does not name the organisers; a 2004 forum post says it was "run by Wyatt B. and two others". The first-round roleplays located are dated 3 and 4 June 2002. From 2 August 2002 the front page read "Congrats. 63 participants...1 God" over an image of the winner, Tom Lexian. Forum posts from 2005 to 2007 give the final as Tom Lexian against Jason Snow, and a 2004 post names Matt Register as a semi-finalist. One 2005 post calls it "2003's RPGod"; the site's own dates are 2002.

RPG4 (2004)

RPG4 was run by K., by then of Universal Wrestling, at roleplaygod.universal-wrestling.com, with its matches on a forum at universal-wrestling.com. Sign-ups were closed by 15 June 2004. The first round was three-way, with one of each three going through; a forum post gave its roleplaying window as noon on Monday 21 June to noon on Tuesday 22 June. The Primetime Central forum followed it closely: "almost half of the competitors in RPG4 are from PTC" (19 June 2004). After the third round (8 July) eight were left: Jay Phoenix, Seymour Almasy, Dynamo, Chris Neptune, Angelo Deville, Inmate 71680, Duke Williams and Clyde. On 15 July 2004 universal-wrestling.com went offline with an "account suspended" page, taking the forums and the tournament's roleplays with it, and the entrants heard nothing further from K. A later post calls it the tournament "where there was no official loser so no official winner"; Inmate 71680's handler and Angelo Deville's handler each later claimed the win.

After RPG4

No fifth edition has been located. By September 2003 roleplaygod.com's inner pages showed a search-engine placeholder, and by September 2004 the whole address was a directory page; rpgod.com was a parked "coming soon" page in 2004.
