Some people say that the mountainous scenery through Colorado is the most beautiful this wonderful country of America has to offer. Breathtaking skylines, mountain tops peaking up above the clouds and a surreal feel as you wind your way through the magnificent Rocky Mountains, this atmosphere captures many a traveler bringing them back year after year, and some will even relocate to this area to live in the scenery everyday. A.J. Trinidad however tears through the mountain roads as if though he’s in a race, not noticing any of his surrounding for his eyes are focused on the road and his mind is noticeably somewhere else. His jet-black Ford Explorer cuts through the winding paths like a hot knife through butter, speeding off towards his destination, Los Angeles. Perhaps his mind is focused on his first ever collective main event, the RPG 3 tournament, or just maybe he is thinking of the family he left just outside of L.A. in Huntington Beach. A family which has since seen a father die and a mother get diagnosed with a muscular disease, worsening every day, one that will leave her paralyzed after the disease has taken it’s full course. A.J. was well aware of his father’s death, he had even attended the funeral secretly, however his mothers growing illness went unbeknownst to him and as the battling memories in his head maneuvered back and forth from the RPG 3 to his family, he is snapped back into reality as his cell phone rings.

Digging through his small, travel sized gym bag sitting in the passenger seat the phone is removed and quickly, after looking at the caller ID of course, answered.

A.J. – “ Switch, what’s up?”

Switchblade – “ Not much man, where the hell are ya? I’ve been trying to get a hold of you all day?”

A.J. – “ I am driving through the mountains in Colorado, that would probably explain why my cell phone wasn’t working at times. Why, what’s up?

Switchblade – “ Well, I was just…..Wait…… Colorado, what in Sam hell are you doing driving west, out next event is on the East Coast.”

A.J. – “ Yeah…… Sorry I didn’t call and let you in on this, I guess I was just too much in a hurry to get out West. You remember the night after I won the DWO world title at Lord of Asylum?”

Switchblade – “ Yeah……..”

A.J. – “ I was pretty drunk after the celebration, but when I got back to the hotel I had a message, it had arrived that day in the mail and I figured it to by another gift, from Kristi you know. But when I opened it up I was floored by what news it held.”

Switchblade – “Well…….. what was it?”

A.J. – “ It was an invitation to a wrestling tournament in Los Angeles, the RPG 3 tournament. 64 wrestlers, in an elimination type bracket, fighting for what sounds to me like the ultimate championship title in the entire industry. I’ve looked at a couple names on the list and there are some damn good wrestlers in the tournament.”

Switchblade – “ Like who? Who could possibly be that good to get your panties in a bunch and run out West for this super tournament.”

A.J. – “ Funny jackass, real funny, but Wippit Guud, Rent-a-Hero, even Duke Williams is in this tournament. There were a handful or wrestlers that I didn’t know however and unfortunately for me my first draw is against one of these men. His name is Karep or something like that.”

Switchblade – “ Did you just say that you were wrestling a man named Crap in your debut match in the RPG 3?”

A.J. (laughing) – “ No….. Karep, I heard he was in the NTICW for brief stint and have only been able to gather a little, if any information on him, and I don’t even know how creditable the information is. Sounds like he maybe one of these darkies though, the Satan Spawn type, you know what I’m talking about.”

Switchblade – “ Ahhh, a little grunge kid maybe, nonconformist?”

A.J. – “ Maybe, and if so I like my chances, I see those people everyday. I love the nonconformity people, they try so hard to pursue their little cause of not being like everyone else and they don’t even realize that in this generation, nonconformity is indeed conformity at it’s worse. They dress different, to get attention, the act different, to get attention, they make it seem that they all have it so bad when in reality most of them come from a two parent household, good income, and a loving surrounding. I’ve grown to like this act quite a bit actually.”

Switchblade – “ Yeah, I hear ya, but what else do you know about him? Is he big, what type of wrestler is he?”

A.J. – “ I don’t know, don’t have a friggen clue, I just prepare myself like any other match I guess, get myself to where I’m comfortable with my own abilities, and take each match I encounter as bigger and more important than the last. Then again, I don’t know how he could know very much about me either, I have to be just about the most unknown wrestler in this whole competition, so I have that going for me.”

Switchblade – “ I guess, if you want to call that an advantage.”

A.J. – “ Look at it this way, I haven’t made enemies with any of these men, I shouldn’t have to watch my back and worry about attacks from behind.”

Switchblade – “ Whatever, but what are we going to do when………sshhhhhhhhhh…..click.”

A.J. – “ Switch? Hello? (looking down to the phone and realizing that he had lost reception) Eh, I’ll just call him back when I get out of the mountains, I have to almost be there, then just two more states, I should be there by 7:00 pm tonight.”

Speeding down a steep incline into a deep Rocky Mountain valley, and popping in a Mobb Deep cd, he relaxes back into his previous state of seeming unconsciousness, drifting back to his thoughts of home, but more importantly the RPG 3 and his opportunity at global stardom.
